Find your household fit

Cartly+ vs OurGroceries.
One household. Your own accounts.

Looking for an OurGroceries alternative? Start with how you share. Cartly+ gives each person their own account, with shared lists, household chat and meal planning together.

Both apps let your household keep a grocery list in sync across iPhone, Android and the web. The useful difference is how the people and plans around that list fit together.

Sharing an account or joining a household?

OurGroceries asks household members to sign in to the same OurGroceries account to share lists, according to its official FAQ. This suits a household that wants one shared set of lists.

In Cartly+, each person signs in to their own account and joins a household through an invitation link or code. Free includes membership in up to two households, so your family and your roommates can have separate spaces. Conversation stays in each household’s chat.

From “what’s for dinner?” to a shared shop

One person plans dinner while another is still at work. In Cartly+, save a recipe, choose a meal date and add the ingredients you need to that date’s shopping list. Use household chat to check a substitution while someone is shopping.

If you already use an AI assistant, connect it to Cartly+ and ask it to add ingredients to a dated list. Connections are included on Free. Assistant availability, setup and provider subscriptions vary. Main list is separate from this dated-list workflow.

For groceries without a planned date, use Main list. Unchecked items stay until you remove them; checked items are removed after 30 days. By date items are removed 30 days after their planned date, including unchecked items.

So which one?

OurGroceries may suit you if…

  • Your household prefers using one shared account
  • You use Alexa to add groceries
  • You want item photos and barcode scanning

Cartly+ may suit you if…

  • Everyone wants their own account, with household invitations
  • You want shopping, meal planning and household chat together
  • You shop with two different households
  • You want to connect an AI assistant to your shopping list

Can I bring my existing lists across?

Cartly+ does not currently offer a direct OurGroceries account migration. Start with the groceries for your next shop and invite your household. Do not assume your old recipes or shopping history will transfer automatically.
